Lobster Thermidor

Do the hounds know of any place in the LA area serving Lobster Thermidor? Musso and Frank shows it on their menu. Are there any others.

Real old school style at Musso and Franks.

It is served on Fridays at Anisette as the plat du jour.

I would love to hear from someone who has sampled the Lobster Thermidor at Anisette.

It's quite a rich creamy, cheesy presentation, right? Oh -- I just read the wikipedia descriptions...

It was the one dish that we were very disappointed in. Comes in a little plastic like pan and to my taste buds it was not what I've come to expect from a thermidor. Would not get it again.

hmmnnnn - good to know! Only been to Anisette once (April 2010) and it was great. We're eager to return - just gotta pick my night.

Sorry to hear it. When Alain Giraud was in the Kitchen on a regular basis it was also a plat du jour (for a different night as I recall) but it was good--albeit not the best I had ever had--and was served in a (metal) casserole dish.

Is that the one in a cream sauce or am I thinking of Newburg?

They are similar but I find Newberg is normally wetter and Thermidor usually dryer:

The Dal Rae http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7241... in Pico Rivera certainly does.
