Suggestions for lunch and dinner in Moab

We need some good suggestions for lunch and dinner in Moab. There is the possibility that we might be just a bit "grubby" if we haven't been able to check into our hotel before eating, as we will just be returning from a backpacking trip. Are there any really great places to eat there that wouldn't frown on our possible attire? Jailhouse the best place for breakfast?? Thank you for any and all help.

  1. Jailhouse is good for breakfast. Mandarin Szechuan was surprisingly good Chinese.

    1. The Jailhouse is good.

We had very good lunches at Eklectica Cafe, on Main St. They have a beautiful outdoor patio with flowers and a fountain, and we weren't the only grubby ones there (ours was a hiking vacation). I'd normally steer clear of places that do a variety of ethnic dishes (as well as the usual salads and sandwiches) but these were very nicely done. And they had good plain black iced tea, which is a plus in my book. Inexpensive.

The Moab Diner is good if you want diner food. Our breakfasts were CHEAP! $5+change.

The Moab Brewery is not bad. I actually had a really good fresh salad there. My fish tacos were not bad though they put them in crunchy shells, which is quite odd for fish tacos. My husband liked his dishes and loved the beer. The decor is awful though. Ads, souvenirs, and an awful dropped ceiling like you see in offices built in the 70s.

The pizza place next door to the Brewery (Paradox Pizza) was okay. You can get slices.

We saw the menu for the Szechuan place and there isn't anything remotely Szechuan on it. It's straight up old fashioned Chinese-American (ie Chop Suey).
