Looking for an outstanding italian restaurant for an anniversary dinner next week. Anywhere from Carlsbad to San Diego. Any price range is acceptable. Thanks!

Anitca Trattoria on Lake Murray Blvd in La Mesa. It's small, it's intimate and if you tell them it's your anniversary I'm betting they'll treat you very well.

Can you please define "best"? Many people define best as most authentic. Others may not care if it's authentic, but want a pleasant dining experience.
Also, please define your version of "Italian". Some people think of Italian as pasta with red sauce and checkered tablecloths with pizza, others think osso buco, veal chops and shaved prosciutto.
