8 hours in NYC x2. Need lunch!
We're two chefs flying to San Francisco in a couple of weeks.
We managed to plan it so well that we have about eight hours in NYC on the way to SF, but also on the return flight.
Now both stops will be around lunchtime so we'll need somewhere to eat. Last time i was in NYC i went Pastis, Babbo, Ssäm Bar, Jean Georges and a few other places. I woldn't really mind going back to Babbo or Ssäm Bar for my friend who's never been. But then again, i'd also like to try something new. =)
Been thinking about Spotted Pig or Prune. But we're really up for anything...Four Seasons i would love to go to, but that mught just be a bit too steep...
Any suggestions?

Note that Babbo isn't open for lunch service. Not all of our best restaurants are open for lunch and those that are open for lunch are only open on weekdays, not weekends. What day of the week are you traveling to NYC?
For a chef with an adventurous palate, Spotted Pig and Prune are good calls. Prune does, however, search a brunch menu on the weekends and is pretty packed, so that might not be what you're looking for.
For upscale dining, I'd try also Eleven Madison Park (assuming this is a weekday). It's not cheap (think more along the lines of Jean Georges level), though.
For more casual but still interesting dining, I'd do Casa Mono, Motorino, Xian Famous Foods (takeout/counter service), Katz's Deli, Russ & Daughters, Szechuan Gourmet, Shake Shack, the chicken and rice cart on 53rd and 6th, Amy Ruth's, Keens Chophouse, Kabab Cafe, Franny's, Di Fara, Sripraphai in Queens (OK, the last 4 are actually not in Manhattan, for details look on the Outer Boroughs board).
