Need help locating some rare foods
Alligator/crocodile meat, snake meat, and fresh soursop, anyone know where to get these items? I've been to Asian markets in Brooklyn(where I live), Mahnhatten, and Queens and no one has them, I don't know of any stores that might either, I'm stumped.
I've bought croc and rattlesnake at Ottomanelli and Sons on Bleecker - they're a real go-to for game meats and whatnot. If they don't have it in stock (though they often do) they'll get it for you fairly quickly. And their prices are very good.
As for fresh soursop check the Spanish neighborhoods, but ask for "guanábana" - Sunset Park is probably your best bet, though as I recall there's also a good (tiny) place in Spanish Harlem that has all kinds of specialty items.
It also shows up in Vietnamese, Malaysian, and Indonesian cuisine, so one of the specifically SE Asian markets in Chinatown might have it - I'd check Tan Ting Hung on Bowery, though getting it fresh is another matter. You might have to settle for frozen.

For crocodile meat I can only re-iterate what Dave Cook has offered before me. I believe you can also get alligator tail at The Lobster Place. Asian butchers typically carry croc legs -- my source would be Deluxe Supermarket. For sour op: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7193...

The first is widely available. I've spotted it at butchers on Division, a half-block east of the Bowery, and on Eighth Ave. in Sunset Park, east side of the avenue in the high 50s. Legs only, though, no tail, at least not in sight. Los Paisanos on Smith St. in Cobble Hill will also procure this, and snake, too.
