Good value Italian or Vegetarian or Modern near Yonge and Wellesley

I'm going to be in the downtown this weekend attending a conference with a very picky co-worker. What are your picks for good value, with something for both the adventurous and the timid?

  1. fire on the east side is only 2 blocks north at gloucester. i love their brunch and have heard good things about all the other meals there. maybe the picky eater could get the burger?
Olympic Pizza is next door and it's good too.
And, you can always head to Church and Wellesley (and one block south to Maitland) and check out the menus at the range of restaurants on that strip.

That Japanese place at Church and Wellesley is supposed to have a pretty good set of unusual veg dishes. I've always wanted to try them.. Agreed on Olympic Pizza---it's good pizza.

    2. If you're cool with a super casual setting, how about Camros?

Isn't Camros closed Saturday and Sunday (as per OP)?

Is it? I've never tried going on the weekend. If that's the case - sorry!

      2. Magic Oven gets rightly slagged here for delivery pizza but it's not bad straight from the oven and this location is nicer than most. Good salads, too.
Wish is Italian-ish and more upscale.
Mela is a very inexpensive small cafe north on Yonge at Yorkville that's both Italian and vegetarian. Daytime only.

        1. I like Papaya right at Yonge Wellesley. Lunch specials are chep and fresh. Their peanut butter chicken is addictive. Their wonton soup is great too (chicken wontons). Also take them to Yummi's for a burger HUGE and cheap.
