Gourmet Kingdom in Carrboro

Has anyone recently been to Gourmet Kingdom in Carrboro. I thought I saw something about the Chef quitting and the food going down, but I wanted confirmation..

    We ate there about three weeks ago and it was as good as ever. If anything, the portion of the Chengdu wantons with chili sauce seemed bigger--and just as good.

      I was there the other weekend with my daughter. We both got noodle soups, which were both as good as always, and the steamed buns were better than the last time I got them. I haven't really had a chance to sample the broader menu.

      The restaurant was still busy serving a mostly Chinese crowd, fwiw.

        oops meant to reply here, I've posted on another thread about GK was there Thursday, amazing food. 98% Chinese crowd when I was there. The biggest juiciest pork dumplings ever.

          Really glad to hear these two reports. I was going to suggest that maybe we need to do another trip there to check it out ... maybe still (in not necessary) a good idea?

            please! i actually haven't been since little tyrant arrived. i'd love to meet up for a weekend lunch/early dinner (yes, sleep training highly restricts a social calendar!)

              Oh cervisiam, I feel your pain - been there, done that. We're very good with early dinners (usual dining time in Lulu-land is about 5:30-6) and we do lunch around noon. How is the little one? He/She must be about, what, 5 months now?

          How recently was that? I was there about a month ago and was distinctly underwhelmed.

            Yeah.. maybe about a month or so ago. I think it was posted on this board but I couldn't find it. Unless it was in the middle of a thread. That is a real shame to hear, but it may have been an off night. Thank you for the feedback.
