Lake Buena Vista local dining
I will be traveling to Disneyworld in a couple weeks with two young kids, and staying in Lake Buena Vista. Looking for good restaurants outside Disneyworld, including but not limited to any good local pizza/italian joints (delivery would be a plus -- we will have a kitchen), or even a good local place to fuel up with coffee in the morning before heading to Disney
We will have a car, but at the end of the day I expect we won't want to drive more than 10 minutes or so.
Thanks for any suggestions.
p.s. any great suggestions for eating at the Disney parks are welcomed (looking for decent value and a place our kids will like -- other than the character meals).
In the mornings, a convenient place to stop before going to the parks themselves are the numerous Hess gas stations on Disney property. The prices have been regulated, so at least there's some assurance you won't suffer sticker-shock (it's also a reasonably-priced place to fuel up). The coffee's pretty good and they often have pastries made that morning which are trucked in. Other than that, I'd probably recommend the nearby Starbuck's or Dunkin Donuts.
On Disney property, if you're looking for kid-friendly, reasonably-priced, and chow-worthy, I'd recommend Ohana's at the Polynesian Resort. Its All-You-Can-Eat grilled meats and lots and lots of sides plus dessert and soft drinks/tea/coffee. More than likely you won't be able to get a reservation, but if you arrive at 5:30 PM or so, they'll put you on a waiting list and you'll get the first table that comes up. They usually ghave a lot of no-shows, but early arrival is the key.
For a "different" kind of pizzeria (i.e. think Stuffed Pizza) that delivers, try Giordano's Restaurant & Pizzeria (12151 S. Apopka Vineland Road - 407.239.8900).
Hope this helps!!!
