Kid Friendly But Good Food Near Purchase, NY?

I'm going to be hitting the sculpture gardens at Pepsico on Saturday and would love to hit a nice independent restaurant in the area. Any suggestions? I'd rather not have Italian since we eat that all the time, but a homey kind of place would be awesome. And on the non-expensive side would be super.
Thanks!

Edited to add: We're traveling from Long Island so anywhere between Purchase and say Yonkers would be okay!

  1. Cobblestone in Purchase, NY is pretty decent bar food in a very comfortable, relaxed environment. Not the best food you'll ever have, but very enjoyable and reasonably priced.

    1. I think the Cobblestone would be very convenient. The Tap House in Tuckahoe came to mind but it may be out of the way......http://www.thetaphouseny.com/ , with the family I would ask to sit in the back, good food.

      1. Purchase is right next to Port Chester, which is full of so many great family-friendly restaurants you don't even have to decide where to eat ahead of time. Just park and wander around. If you want specific ideas for that town, do some searches on Chowhound.

Tortillas de los Gemalos (I hope that's the right name), Inca y Gaucho, Misti, Aqui Es Santa Fe...they're all terrific and very reasonably priced.

As a past Purchase student I used to love going to Port Chester for great little divey type places that appealed to my college financial situation. Loved Pat's Hubba Hubba and Las Brisas - don't know if either are still there. :)

Q Barbeque on Main St. in Port Chester is certainly kid friendly.

That's where we wound up and had a great meal. They couldn't have been nicer, from directions over the phone to grabbing a high chair as soon as we came in. They are certainly on top of their game in terms of service and the food (IMO) was delicious. (My son's chicken tenders were delicious - yummy little bits of pure white meat chicken in manageable kid-sized bites.)
