Great Italian - Bibiana

Wife and I had dinner for the first time Sat night at Bibiana. Great meal, great service, great atmosphere - definitely will be back many times.

Rice fritters - not overly dense or greasy - perfectly fried and the rice/cheese ratio was great.
Polpette - Veal meat ball over white polenta - moist, flavorful meatball over creamy polenta - great.
Marubini - braised veal ravioli - this was really terrific. Brown butter sauce was perfect, perfect seasoning.
Beef - Strip perfectly grilled over pizzaiola (sp) - served with potato wedges which were good but nothing out of the ordinary. The meat is served in two long pieces. Once piece was perfectly cooked and delicious. The other piece must have come from the end cut as it was almost all fat which was disappointing. After the first piece I was looking forward to the second. I wish this was caught in the kitchen as the one piece shouldnt have been served.

My wife is a vegetarian and loved the house made ricotta with honey, pepper chives and almonds. I tasted it and homemade ricotta is just a great thing.

She also had the Agnolotti which she liked very much.

Dessert was fried Nutella which was deliciously rich and over the top. Nutella gelato, Nutella powder and a fried pastry filled with Nutella pastry cream. This was a really great dessert and excellently presented. As a culinary pastry graduate I can tell you, this is a good one.

Great wines by the glass - I had a Sangiovese and my wife stuck with a couple of whites.

Overall - highly recommend Bibiana.

Couldn't agree more. The risotto is amazing too.

Bibiana is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants in DC. The food is incredible and I think atmosphere and service is very comfortable. You got some of my favorite dishes (especially the appetizers). Next time you go back focus on getting more pasta dishes---that's really their strong suit.

I have only been once so far, but I agree that the pasta is VERY good - the texture of the actual pasta is very different from what I've had at other places in town. Different but very good.

Different because it is al dente and cooked correctly haha

              probably!!!
(though I've had correctly cooked pasta in Italy other places, it still has a different texture at Bibiana but it might have been the cut/shape of the pasta)

I wasn't quite as crazy about my agnolotti as everyone else, but the panini my husband got at lunch there was pretty freaking amazing. And, I have to admit, the lemon in the sauce on the agnolotti was really perfect. I'm going to have to go back and really do it up sometime.

I will say that I thought service on the patio suffered a bit and will sit inside next time.
