Denver Tech area

One last - I hope! - puzzle for my upcoming trip. You've all been so helpful with my Boulder questions - I appreciate it! Now, I'm waffling on what to do on my free Wednesday night in the Tech area before my conference. My estimated arrival at the Doubletree will be around 5, so I have decided not to venture into Denver proper (I'm an early to bed person before long days...). I saw in an earlier post there were good rec's for the Greenwood area for Del Frisco and Shanahan's. I'm nervous about Shanahan's - their website doesn't seem to be working. Is it possible they have closed? Also, any thoughts on Brook's? I prefer non-chains, and would be interested the most in Brook's, if it gets good recs. Thanks!!!

  1. Shanahan's only opened recently, so I doubt they've closed. Yia-Yia's in/near the Tech Center is/was pretty good. Haven't been there for quite some time, however.

Shanahan's is good, but a little pricey. On the budget end, Baker St. Pub is good for happy hour beers (skip the wines or cocktails) -- happy hour is from 2 to 7 p.m. Save your $$ for something like Jing! Asian Bistro, in Greenwood Village. Oh, and the Wine Loft is a nice little wine bar with small plates.

    2. Of the steak houses, Del Frisco's is the best. Yia Yia's can be hit or miss. If you want interesting fast food, Mirch Grill is good, especially if you stick to their small bite ( chat) menu. Chopsticks Chinese bistro has good Szechuan dishes. If you have a car, Aurora is not far with lots of good ethnic choices.
