Sizzler Joins the Food Truck Craze
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi...
Best quote from Sizzler ceo Kerry Kramp: "I became a food-truck-crazy maniac like everybody else because I couldn't figure out what in the world was making people stand in line for 45 minutes," he said. "I was thinking, 'These people should be going to Sizzler.'"
I love a deluded guy in a suit with dollar signs in his eyes dreaming about milking the latest cash cow.
Out here in Austin we have a lot of carts. Some have lines at busy times. The reason being, typically, the food is quite good and relatively inexpensive.
I'll be curious to see how the nationwide rollout of Sizzler trucks does financially.
I haven't eaten at a Sizzler since I was a kid but if memory serves the basement quality meat and dismal sides aren't going to make anybody stand in line, no matter if corporate hires someone to twitter themselves silly.

Oh my goodness, I thought for sure that would be a headline for an Onion article.
Though, if they serve Sizzler cheese toast out of the truck, I *might* stand in line. That was typically the best part of a Sizzler meal as a child.›2 Replies-

I am so right there with you, chef. I can think of nothing I'd less rather do than stand in line for second-quality tenderized meat. Now, a steak sandwich truck that used prime meat in different marinades with different compositions? For that, I'd stand in line. So sad, you are correct, that his corporate mentality doesn't even truly grok that a "Sizzler Food Truck" would be antethical to the whole concept of food truck-ology.
