Small yellow berries at today's Copley Market.... [moved from Boston]

catsmeow Sep 10, 2010 03:56 PM

Today, at the Copley Farmer's Market, I got these little yellow berries. Each has to be unwrapped from it's thin paperlike sack to get to them, and they taste a little like pineapple. I can't remember their name. What are they? Thanks.

Related to the tomatillo, these are called husk cherries, husk tomatoes, husk cherry tomatoes, and also (I think) Cape Gooseberries. Very yummy stuff.

Yeah I remember getting those gooseberries last year at a farmer's market . It was a good thing they have those husks, because it slowed me down from eating them even faster than I did.

Cape gooseberries is correct. Aka ground cherries. Love 'em!
