HELP (please) Jumpin Jays Fish Cafe
Could someone "in the know" please let me know what the dress code is at Jumpin Jays in Portsmouth??? Would it be appropriate to show up in shorts and a collared shirt? We have a 5pm reservation.
Thanks!!!

re: irwin
A great Birthday (my son) Dinner tonight ! I had the Pan Seared Scallops, wife and daughter had Haddock Piccata, son had Seared Yellowfin Tuna. All EXCELLENT!! Our starters were Steamed PEI Mussels (House Specialty)
With a ginger saffron cream, lemongrass, scallions, jalapeños, tomatoes, garlic, shallots & fines herbs AND TUNA AVOCADO, a timbale of fresh, diced, raw tuna, avocado & mint tossed in a fragrant marinade of galangal, garlic, shallots & crushed peanuts.Everything was great including the service. Recommend!!!

I haven't been to Jay's in a couple of years to feel comfortable making an absolute, authoritative statement about this, but in my opinion nice shorts and a collared shirt would be fine. Tasteful and clean never hurts - I just wouldn't go there in jogging shorts and a t-shirt, personally speaking.
From the front page of their website: "The atmosphere is casually hip, with no pretense. Reservations encouraged. Open Seven nights a week."
Downtown Portsmouth is an easy-going place, and even the better dining establishments are accustomed to casual attire, especially in the summer season. It's a town that caters to a large beach-going tourist/visitor element, and casual attire comes with the territory.
