Dark Chocolate Sprinkles in Chicago
Does anyone know where I can find dark chocolate sprinkles in the Chicago area? I do not want the crappy Jewel/Dominicks kind. I want high quality sprinkles. I will even settle for milk chocolate sprinkles. I want to make my favorite Dutch treat for a party tomorrow.
Williams and Sonoma has chopped up chocolate in their Hot Chocolate product. It's not the same as sprinkles but extremely decadent.
Did you try World Market? Sometimes they have good sprinkles.
Another option might be to try Illinois Nuts & Candy in Skokie. They may have some high quality sprinkles.

It's possible they might have them at your local supermarket (Dominick's, Jewel, etc.). Have you looked there? You may need to check the shelf area for ice cream accessories (cones, sundae toppings, etc) in addition to the baking aisle where they have chocolate chips.
Sorry, I don't know of any either. That's too bad, because the chocolate manufacturers have begun making higher-quality chocolate items lately. (You've probably noticed that you can now buy higher-quality chocolate chips, where they actually state a high cocoa percentage on the label.)
Maybe you can buy some at a high-end ice cream shop? I don't know. Maybe someone else here has some ideas.
As another alternative, have you considered buying a high-quality hunk of chocolate, and either shaving or curling it, or chopping it very finely? Just a thought...
