Mid to lower Hudson River Valley: Romantic restaurants?

Hello all,

I tried a number of searches but had some trouble finding this info.

I am planning a weekend trip to celebrate our anniversary over the weekend of October 22-23. We're staying in Beacon, and would love to hear recommendations for a great dinner within a 45 minute (max) drive of the B&B. We are flexible on price; mostly want great food and great atmosphere.

I would have loved Blue Hill, but per Open Table they have absolutely nothing available. Same goes for Escoffier (or any of the CIA options).

Checked into Backyard Bistro, which sounds unbelievable -- but again, I'm assuming totally unavailable.

So here is what I'm considering at the moment:
Valley at the Garrison
Terrapin
Calico (Rhinebeck)

I would love more options, and some good recommendations. Thanks so much in advance!

Terrapin is great! I would also recommend Crave in Poughkeepsie, it's a small restaurant. It's not dimly lit if that's what you're looking for, but it is cozy, and the food is good. I haven't been to Valley, but Tavern in Garrison (at the Highlands County Club) had good food and the setting was romantic, in my opinion!

Thanks! I had forgotten about Tavern. Will definitely consider it.

The Iron Forge Inn in Warwick. Great atmosphere and delicious, imaginative food.

Plumbush Inn in Cold Spring or Bird and Bottle Inn in Garrison.

Zeph's in Peekskill. Delicious food, intimate and unpretentious. You'll want a reservation, but they're not difficult to get.

+1 on zeph's. It's small and romantic. Valley in Garrison has great food, but it's not quite "romantic" (though certainly we go there for anniversaries). Xavier's in Piermont is probably too far for you, but it's super romantic and the food is outstanding.

Ooh, I like the look of Zeph's! Definitely on the short list. Thanks! :)

I would try the Restauran" "9" in Millerton NY or Seravan in Amenia NY. Great food and atmosphere.

These both look phenomenal! Next time we are up that far I will definitely be interested...an hour from Beacon pretty much rules them out, unfortunately. But thank you!

I think Aroma Osteria, in Wappinger Falls, is romantic (i guess it depends on where they seat you) and I have had some good meals there, it's a sister restaurant to Il Barlotto, in Fishkill, which also may be a good choice...... http://www.aromaosteriarestaurant.com... and http://www.ilbarilottorestaurant.com/... let us know where you end up. BTW, I would call places directly to check for reservations, I've heard more then once of problems with open table.
