Agree with Jack Flash's suggestions and would add:

The Back Abbey (burgers, mussels, duck fat fries, Belgian beer) - Claremont Village
Donut Man (fruit donuts) - Route 66 in Glendora
Senor Baja (fish tacos, formerly Taco Nazo) - Foothill east of Garey

Agree on The Back Abbey, and Viva Madrid from experience. Heard great things about Taco Nazo.

I'd add Thai Orchid Garden on Foothill between Garey & Towne. Particularly their curries, Volcano Chicken, and their fried banana dessert with coconut ice milk.

Los Jarritos in Pomona (que the naysayer who always chimes in on this rec).

      Donahoo's Golden Chicken in Pomona.

Actually, there are a couple of things I like at La Paloma. The carnitas are pretty good, as I recall, although it's usually after a margarita or two.

Forgot to mention Mi Ranchito (in the shopping center at Foothill & Wheeler) - ask for Fernando, one of the waiters/bartenders. He makes a really good stiff drink.

The food at La Paloma is OK, just not outstanding, but the bar is pretty awesome. I keep saying I have to try Mi Ranchito by I never get farther than Red Devil.

Pizza Bar, try, Mario's Ultimate Sandwich. I went after seeing a pic from this review http://thenewdiner.blogspot.com/searc... and I loved the sandwich.

Corner Butcher Shop has good quality meats and sausage. They make their own sausage.

They now have some BBQ, not sure if they smoke the meat themselves or somebody else smokes the meats.
