New bars in East Village/alphabet city?

  • r

I'm looking to do a mini bar crawl this weekend in the East Village but I'm sick of all my old spots (DBA, Jimmys, zum, etc). I'm sure there's a couple of new bar that have drinks maybe some food and are just different. Any ideas? Thanks

  1. You could try all the death and co places, mayahuel etc? There are also some tequilia bars and tiki bars that have opened in LES, Apotheke? The Randolph? Not sure how new new is for you. just some spots you didnt mention.

    1. The bar at Vandaag is pretty nice, and popular, as I observed during my meal there last weekend.

From your listings of DBA, Jimmy's, Zum, etc. it sounds like you like beer bars. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking maybe Klimat, Weschler's, Shoolbred's, McSorley's, Burp Castle, the bar at DBGB would be good visits, too.

Phil KC the Chef Van Daag used to cook at Jimmy's and although I have yet to try Vandaag, I would follow him anywhere in NYC, he's definitely one of the most inventive in the kitchen and one of my NYC fav's...

Vandaag is definitely worth a try, both for the food and the drinks.

I haven't eaten at Vangaag yet, but I did drink, and I thought the cocktails were great. I also love the space (and the fabulous match boxes).

      2. They're not necessarily new, but based on your list, I'd pay a visit to Drop Off Service, Good Beer, the 13th Step and the Belgian Room.

13th Step just looks like a big frat hole.

Agreed, prob will never step in that place. I have my fratty bar favs in the EV already picked out, ha. Dont need new ones.

Also, Ill just say, as someone who has a number of friends for whom AA has done great things, I find the name really tasteless.

        2. it's not new, but it's off the radar - Sunita's on Norfolk bet. Delancey and Rivington. she's famous for her Jalapeno Passion Fruit Martini. definitely a must try.
