good beer in Las Vegas
I am shocked that no one has mentioned Main Street Station's brewpub down town just off Freemont Street. They are a real brewery and they make about 5-6 beers and keep one or two seasonals as well for about 8 different beers total. they have a m-f happy hour with 2 dollar pints and 4.50 appetizers (good wings). you cannot beat the 2 dollar beers. blondes, ambers, wheats, stouts, reds, ipa, pale ales, etc. it is great and a must hit for a beer person. you can also take one to go in a plastic cup and stroll down freemont street. four queens also has a chain microbrewery called chicago brewing. you can get em on tap at their video poker bar just steps off freemont street. they also have an actual chicago brewing co location inside casino as well. benny's bullpen inside binion's has some of their beers on tap as well.
whatever you do get downtown and go to main street station and get directed to their micro brewery!!!!! 3p-6p m-f 2 dollar pints of awesome craft beer!
Vegas is somewhat lacking in good beery choices, but there are a few decent places scattered here and there who carry craft beers. A lot depends on whether you have transportation or not.
There's Aces & Ales which is located near Sam's Town, about a 20 minute drive from the Strip. They usually have about 10 craft beers on draft, along with a decent bottle list, some of which isn't shown on the menu.
There's also the Freakin' Frog, located near the UNLV campus on Maryland Parkway about 5-10 from the Strip. Usually about 10 beers on tap, and a decent bottle list but this place is on the expensive side. They often have Delirium Tremens on tap.
On the Strip itself but WAY on the far southern end (about a 10-15 minute drive south of Mandalay Bay for example), is the M Resort which has a bar located near the sportsbook called 32 Draft. Usually around 75 or so craft beers on tap, and quite reasonably priced. Also, if you're playing a machine you can get the beers comped. They have Chimay white on tap too.
At New York New York there's a small bar, almost a kiosk actually, located in a walkway overlooking the casino called Pour 24. They have a couple dozen craft beers on tap. On the more expensive side but it's in a convenient location.
At Mandalay Bay there's Burger Bar. About a dozen craft beers on tap and a nice bottle selection. Also in a convenient location but also sometimes a little pricey. The food is good there though.
About a 30 minute drive from the Strip towards the west is Big Dog's Brewing Company on Rancho Blvd. Mostly a locals hang out, it has decent food along with a rotating tap list headed by their own brews.
One block east of the Strip on Koval Lane is Ellis Island. A very small casino, but they have a small cafe where you can get a pretty good $6.99 steak special (not listed on the menu, you have to ask for it) that comes with a good sized beer which they brew there. One of the best deals in town. They also have a BBQ area which has some good deals as well. You don't go here for the ambiance, but you'll leave feeling full, the food is pretty good and the beer is pretty good as well.
That's about it off the top of my head. For other suggestions try the Beer Advocate website. Click the 'Beerfly" section and search Las Vegas.
Have fun while you're here!
