Looking for the best milk shake in Orlando

I have a birthday coming up, and I usually pick as my treat a milkshake over cake. However, I've not really found a great milkshake in Orlando and usually wind up settling for Johnny Rocket's or Steak and Shake which are OK. However, I'd really like to find a great ice cream place that makes an awesome custom shake. Most of the ice cream places seem to be soft serve or yogurt neither of which make a thick enough shake for me. Also, the Cold Stone's can't really pull them off either like I'm looking for.

So, where can I get a shake worthy of a special occassion here in Central Florida?

  1. Happy Birthday to you! My favorite place in Orlando for a Shake is the 50's Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios. This may not help you since it is inside a tourist trap/ theme park but I have honestly not had this good of a Shake anywhere. The Peanut Butter Shake is my absolute fave!

That's a great idea - we have Disney annual passes

    2. Hi there!!!

The best place I know of that makes their own ice cream AND does custom mixing is Cookies & Cream in Winter Garden (3279 Daniels Road - #106). This place is awesome! I dare you to resist not getting a cookie to go along with the shake.

Another good place is Bruster's Real Ice Cream in Altamonte Springs (901 N. SR 434).

In Disney, you might also want to check out Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club Resort. They have really cute booths in a "old-timey soda shop" themed restaurant that could also be fun for your children.

      Hope this helps!!!

Happy Birthday Yosemite - or should I say YEE HAW ! : )
I didn't realize you had a Bruster's down there (I'm in Merrimack, NH)! My in-laws in Deltona LOVE their chocolate razberry truffle ice cream (as does my nephew in Tampa) & we make a stop (or 2) to Bruster's when they come up. They make great shakes at the one in Merrimack - they don't "over syrup" like most places do (I usually have to tell most places only 1 squirt of syrup). And, they make their own ice cream so you know it's fresh.
But, 50's Primetime Cafe - you could always do Rock 'N Rollercoaster & a shake - now THAT would be a perfect birthday for me! I'll be soooooo jealous if you do that - but I'll hopefully get to do that in November when I head down there.

I'm with you southie chick - the aerosmith coaster and a PB shake would make the best birthday combo ever ;-)

Beaches and Cream is a good choice, They discount for the Tables in Wonderland card as well.

        3. I just had a mediocre meal at Cheeburger Cheeburger across from Waterford Lakes in that new shopping plaza, but one thing that redeemed it was the milkshake. They have a vast variety of milkshake and malt flavors, and even allow you to mix and match. My wife loved her brownie batter milkshake, and I had a great key lime pie shake, with tiny bits of actual pie crust in it. They are nice and thick and freshly-made to order. If you want a great burger customized the way you like it, go to Fuddruckers. Fudds' fries and onion rings are much better too. But Cheeburger Cheeburger may fulfill your birthday shake craving.
