Scotch eggs! Meat pies! Polony!

Just had my first trip to Thwaites Market in Methuen, and I've already set the plan for the return. The shop is immaculately clean and well-tended, and the butchery is everything you'd want a local butcher shop to be. (Including homemade sausages of all sorts, from classic Italian to English Polony, to Kielbasa, to everything in between).

The signature selections are their meat pies, and they have them warm right there to eat fresh, and cooled for reheating later, or for later freezing. I lost count, but there had to be 20 varieties on hand, from their #1 selling pork pie right on down the line. $2 apiece--you can't beat it.

The winner for me today was their Scotch egg--perfectly breaded and deep fried, with a succulently juicy and sublime sausage wrapped around a perfectly-done boiled egg. $2 again--incredible.

Their refrigerated and frozen prepared food selection was endless, but who still has room in their shopping bag.

Five stars and worth every Google Maps/GPS effort to get there.
