Need a great french restaurant in Chelsea/ La Luncheonette? Trestle on Tenth?
Have read a bunch of older discussions saying that La Luncheonette is wonderful, but later reviews elsewhere indicate it has gone downhill? Thoughts? What about Trestle on Tenth?

re: Blumie
We stopped by La Lunchonette the other day after a too-hot walk on the High Line. I loved the sauteed chanterelles, the duck confit salad, and the Niçoise salad (it seemed too hot to order much cooked food). Lovely service, charming atmosphere. Not the absolute best French as you mention, but it hits the spot.

I've always liked La Luncheonette....it's reliable, relaxed, good service. It's not "great" as in Le Bernadin, but it's a perfectly fine neighborhood restaurant. I prefer La Luncheonette to Gascogne, which is on 8th and 18th, but either is fine for a dependable meal.
Trestle on Tenth isn't a straightforward French restaurant, it is a combination of so-called new American/French/Swiss. Haven't been but Board write-ups are favorable.
