Restaurants I haven't heard about lately
Hi all,
I haven't heard anyone talk about a few restaurants lately, are they still good?
Northeast Social
Citizen Cafe
Cafe Levain
Trattoria Tosca
Thanks!

I've heard pretty good reports on Northeast Social, not much lately about the others. I did win a $15 gift card to Citizen Cafe, will report back when I use it.

Visited Northeast Social during the art crawl a couple months ago and it was awesome. Love the food, the staff, the atmosphere. If I lived in NE this would be my regular hangout.
I actually live closer to Citizen Cafe, and I visited last summer and really liked it, but haven't had a chance to go back. I'll try to do a lunch there soon and report back.

I love Citizen Cafe. Basics & comfort food done well & with a twist. House-made mustard so good I finished it plain...

Good to hear! I made a reservation for Northeast Social this weekend, I'm no longer apprehensive. :)

I haven't been to Levain in a year or so, but it was pretty good last time I was in.

If it's really been a year since you've been there, then Levain has had some chef turnover in that time.

I'm aware, which is why I didn't give a more thorough review.

Didn't they just get their old chef back?

I didn't hear anything about it, but I guess you're right. According to their FB page, Adam Vickerman is back at Levain.
Nice.

Adam's back! We've been back a few times since then and he's breathed new life into the place again. Love the prix fixe on Sunday nights. Had a really nice hanger steak with barley risotto last weekend.

Trattoria Tosca has closed.

Are you thinking about the Trattoria Tosca that is adjacent to Turtle Bread on W. 44th Street in Minneapolis?
I just called and they are open, taking reservations for the weekend. Where did you get your info?

Sorry--was thinking of a similarly-named restaurant in St. Paul which closed last year.

Trattoria Da Vinci? Also open and taking reservations.

Yes, that's true. Il Vesco Vino used to be on Selby and then moved to W7th with the name Trattoria something and I was thinking of that now-closed endeavor. Another restaurant has moved into that space.

The newest entrant in that restaurant space is Moe Sharif's Burger Moe's (he owned the other places, too).

Speaking of Burger Moe's, I've had consistently good burgers there every time I've gone - including cooked exactly how I order them, which is a rarity in the Twin Cities.

I went to the one in St. Paul and thought it was pretty so-so. It was cooked well (medium rare), but my friend I went with was raving about how good their burgers are.

Is there more than one Burger Moe's?
I certainly don't think it's the best burger in the Twin Cities - but it's one of the best (on a very short list) in St. Paul.
That space seems to be cursed. I hope it does well, I think it's a good addition for that area.

There's only one Burger Moe's. But between Burger Moe's and Burger Jones and R. Burger and Smashburger and all the rest, confusion does not surprise me. :-)

I love that patio Burger Moe's has. I haven't been there yet, but I'm going to head there as soon as it's REALLY spring!
