Upscale BBQ?

I am helping to plan a party and am looking for a catering company/restaurant who will do "upscale BBQ", preferably onsite. Any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Upscale BBQ? Sounds like an oxymoron.

    1. If you have a big enough order, have the space and want the full show, Rockland's will bring out a smoker and cook on site. I'll bet that they'd even serve out of real stainless chafing dishes rather than aluminum foil pans, too. Hopefully money is no object (which is how you make it "upscale").

      1. Can you define upscale BBQ? And what area is your event in?

        1. upscale BBQ means you don't want to eat it! mmm, let's see --- upscale pulled pork on a croissant with Bearnaise sauce and a balsamic reduction. I don't want that!

sorry if I am am highjacking this thread... Upscale NC BBQ= pulled pork on a cheap "wonder bread" hamburger bun, a spoonful of coleslaw, and a bottle of Texas Pete on the table (or some vinegar-y based homemade hot sauce in an old Cheerwine bottle with a couple of holes punched in the cap) and a never ending pitcher of sweet tea. --- oh ---- on a flimsy paper plate. Now that's BBQ friend.

          2. Ha ha. "Upscale BBQ."

You know a lot of Q heads are gonna' hoot about that!

In any case you're probably looking for something like Red Hot & Blue. They do catering, probably just what you're looking for. Maybe they can even do that "upscale" thang.

I will say that their potato salad is excellent. The Q itself is perfectly acceptable.

but the web site seems to be down at the moment. They do have a catering web page, and last time I looked it seemed very thorough.
