Hudson River Valley Wedding Location?

  • 7

Hi there!

My fiancee and I are planning to get married in May 2011, and I am looking for an affordable location outside of NYC to get married. We'd love someplace scenic, and no more than 70 miles from NYC.

Our budget for the whole wedding is $20,000, and we are expecting approximately 85 guests. I really would love someplace that felt natural, simple, and has very good food.

Thanks for any suggestions!

    1. you might check into Hollowbrook Country Club in Cortlandt Manor. I was at a wedding there this spring and it was lovely.

      1. I like Hillside Manor in Kingston.

          1. Aroma has great food. I've been there for a wedding before, and they did a really great job. The restaurant itself is beautiful.

As far as scenic goes, the Grandview in Poughkeepsie is hard to beat. I had my wedding there on a Friday night. We had the ceremony outside on the patio overlooking the Hudson River. The views are stunning. The reception was held in the outdoor tent, also overlooking the river, which was cheaper than holding it in the ballrom. Seriously, though, this is the best tent you have ever seen in your life. When we held the wedding, it was a bit chilly, so they actually heated the tent. It was amazing. The only downside is that there's a 100 person minimum. The food is very excellent (for catered food) and though it's not budget, you get an excellent value for your money.

If you did hold it at Aroma though, you can always escape to a spot on the Hudson river to take your photographs. =)

It does look beautiful at the Grandview, congratulations! I don't think we're going to make it to 100 people, but I'll keep following up with Aroma.

            2. My husband and I were married at the West Park Winery 6 years ago and I cannot recommend it enough. The food was spectacular (even our snobby, foodie friends raved), the setting simply gorgeous, and the event simple but elegant. The owner hires only Culinary Institute students or alums to prepare the meal and it shows, and the entire staff is simply wonderful. They are also very open to customization if that's your thing, but I picked from their existing options and didn't regret it for a second. We had about 120 people and the budget was under $20,000, so the price is quite reasonable as well. There isn't a single thing I would have changed about our wedding day.
              Good luck in your planning!
