Thanks in advance for your great help, LA Hounds. My boss needs to take an important client to breakfast in the Studio City area, and we'd like somewhere quite upscale. When we do this sort of thing in downtown LA we often use the restaurant at the Checkers Hilton Hotel. I looked for 4 or 5 star hotels in the Studio City area, but the websites pointed me "over the hill" to Sunset / Beverly Hills / Century City, etc. Probably anywhere within 7-8 miles of Studio City will work, but we don't want to ask the client to drive to the B.H. area. Thanks for any advice you can give! :-)

It might push the envelope of the term "Studio City area", but Chez Nous in Toluca Lake has an excellent breakfast menu in a clean and classy location. It's off the westbound 134 at Cahuenga, on Riverside Drive east of Cahuenga, a mile north of Universal City.

Perhaps best of all, it's the only place in the area I know that takes reservations for breakfast.

What about Cafe Sierra at the Universal Hilton, or the California's restaurant at the Sheraton Universal? Or perhaps Musso & Frank's in Hollywood?

Love Musso's but it doesn't open until 11.

You could try Hugo's, 12851 Riverside Dr, Studio City, CA, (818) 761-8985

          unfortunately, i wouldn't consider Hugo's "quite upscale."

          what time would breakfast be?

You might check out Hotel Amarano in Burbank http://www.hotelamarano.com/our_hotel... and see if it meets your needs.
