Restaurants with Kitchen Counter Seating?

I'll be dining solo in San Francisco this weekend, and on a previous visit had a really great meal and show by sitting at the kitchen counter at Boulevard.

I'd like to have a similar seat but in a different venue. I'm very flexible on cuisine but prefer to be in a livelier place than a dead one. :)

Any places I shouldn't miss where I can watch the kitchen hard at work?

Local in the Mission. Fun place and friendly chefs. No servers, chefs deliver the food themselves.

Do they take the orders as well? Is it all counter seating?

I wouldn't call Local Mission's set-up counter seating; it's casual, and you order at the counter, but the main seating area is separate from the kitchen area (though not by a great distance). I don't recall any seats at the counter where you could watch the food being prepared, but maybe that's changed since I was there which was soon after opening.

I really liked the food, but the portions were quite small.
