Delivery suggestions near corner Beech / 2nd Ave

Staying at the Motel 6 near the corner of Beech and 2nd Ave. Looking for suggestions for delivery (pizza, asian, etc) in the area. If there is something real close (2-3 blocks) we could do that too for eating in, but looking for something easy and decent taste (cardboard pizza need not apply).

Thanks

Tim

  1. Landini's Pizza should deliver.

    So should Mandarin house.

That covers you for pizza and Chinese.

Places that deliver are hard to find.

    1. Walk a block over to Mixon Liquor & Deli on 1st and Beech for sandwiches. It can get busy at lunchtime, but the sandwiches are tasty. I like the Construction (turkey, bacon, cheddar, and sprouts) and the Veggie. I'm not sure what their setup in the evening is like.

I'm fairly certain Mixon's closes in the afternoon - at least the deli does (not the liquor store). I agree that their sandwiches are very good. Across the street from Mixon's is Cap's, and they make a pretty good pizza. Their salads and calzones are good, as well. I do believe they deliver.

Interesting. I don't know anyone who had ever eaten there.

Ah...never under estimate Phee. I trust her taste buds and she's eaten at all kinds of interesting places, not just the usual suspects

Why thank you, DD! And some of those places were in your company!

stevewag23, I used to work in the area, and Cap's (formerly Caparell's) was kind of our go-to place when we wanted something close by where we could sit down. The pizza certainly isn't Bruno's or artisan by any means, but the crust is good and chewy and the toppings don't need to be mopped for grease. Their calzones are enough to feed two, and the entree salads are substantial.

To the OP, I would suggest walking to Date and India (a little more than a couple of blocks, maybe) and checking out some of the options in Little Italy. If you do a search on this board, you can see which spots are well-liked, and which ones to steer clear of. Happy dining!

                Cool, good to know. Thanks.

Thanks Phee! We'll consider checking out Cap's for sure.

I have done some searching on Little Italy in general, seems like Buon Appetito are Mona Lisa Deli popular. I'd be interested to hear your top 5 or so spots (lunch or dinner, not fine dining) in the area.

                  Thanks

                    Easy one:

                    Mona Lisa Deli - sandwiches/groceries
Puerto La Boca - Argentinian (very good and good bar for a relaxing cocktail)
                    Buon Appetito - good italian
Bencotto - good italian (higher price point)
Po Pazzo - cocktail and music

                    Also of note:

                    Assenti Pasta - fresh pasta
                    Papalecco - espresso and gelato
                    Burger Lounge - burger
Santanas - if you want food at 3 am
