Looking for Dinner and Dancing Big Band

We are celebrating my mother's birthday Sept 11 and she would like to go to dinner and dancing with big band music. Is there such a restaurant in Montreal? Where could we go. There will be 20 in our party.

There was a radio show, on FM96, I think, sponsored by Meldrum Movers. Could it have been from the "Jupiter Room" by the airport?
It was a live dinner show with an orchestra. The emcee touted himself as "The happiest man in the world" and would go around speaking to people in the audience (many times bungling their names).
For the life of me I can't remember the name of the emcee, but he passed away.
      Someone help me here...
Perhaps the show died with the emcee?

I hope you book soon, a group of 20 is not always easy to accomodate at the last
minute. Keep us posted on what you decide !!

Gordon Courtenay, Saturday Night at the Jupiter. Originally at the Jupiter Lounge at the airport Hilton, and later at the downtown Sheraton.

            Gordon Courteny, yes, thank you.
I take it the dinner show is no longer with us?

If her heart is set on a big band, can you get her to go out and celebrate on the 16th? There is a Swing Ball at the Rialto (call 514-272-3899 for tickets) with the Ballroom Blitz Big Band Orchestra & an Early Jazz Band. The Rialto is also home to the Rialto Paradiso Steak House, although I think the ballroom and the restaurant are two separate establishments. Someone else here can correct me if I am wrong.

If you can't move things to the 16th, I would suggest eating at one place and then going dancing. On Saturday the 1th, there will be a live band at L'Air de Tango 514-278-8781, a three piece swing band at Studio 88-Swing, and live latin music at the Salsathèque and Club 6/49. All of which are near lots of restaurants, good, bad, expensive and cheap.

There was a thread like that a year ago with no answer.

Good luck as it does not look there's much of that in Montreal.

This might be the thread: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/484031

I found a 2002 review of the Do-Re-Mi restaurant mentioned:

If your mom & her gang are on the older side, maybe they might like it? (if it's still around...)
