  1. I haven't been to any of these places, but:

    that article suggests:
Miller's East Coast Delicatessen: 1725 Polk (at Clay), 563-3542.

    Bi-Rite Market: 3639 18th St. (at Guerrero), 241-9760.

Saul's Restaurant and Delicatessen: 1475 Shattuck (at Vine), Berkeley, 510-848-3354.

There's also a really neat sounding event going on at The Kitchen Table in Mountain View, which is a great restaurant, if your son has transportation:

The Kitchen Table IMHO is one of the best kosher restaurants in the US - the food is phenomenal -

I totally agree. It's kinda far from SF though.

    2. Market Hall in Oakland usually cooks up food for Jewish holidays in the European vein (vs. Jewish communities of other parts of the world...)

      1. Holy Land Restaurant in the Lake Merritt area has outstanding Kosher (Meat) food. It's ultra-casual, and I wouldn't care to have a special-occasion meal there, but as far as the food is concerned, I've eaten my way through the menu and never once gone wrong. Anything made with lamb here is especially good.

        1. does it have to be kosher? If so youd on't have so many choices - Amba in Montclair is casual and vegetarian, but great. If not, you might be happy with Saul's.
