Paw-paws from Deep Creek Orchard in/near Kensington?

Hey all,

I know Heritage Foods is selling these, but I can't use 10 lbs. Does anyone know if they're being sold at a farmer's market in the area?

Thank you,

  1. I'll split an order with you! Where is Heritage Foods? That will save me a trip to WV to pick my own!

Great idea, but it is $114 for 10 lbs, or about $8.50 a piece. Where do you go to get them in WVa? How much do they cost?

I go to a friend's house and we pick them. Let me see if they're ready now and I'll let you know. Is there a way I can contact you via email?

Steve, I didn't find any paw-paws in my usual haunts. I ended up going out of town unexpectedly and wasn't able to check until this week. They're gone already. I'm sorry!

Well, you could go to Paw Paw, West Virginia. There are paw paw trees all over the place. There were also some paw paw trees in Cherry Hill Park in Falls Church and persimmons as well. We found them more suitable for throwing at each other than eating, though. 12 bucks a pound?! Wow, we sure threw away a lot of money.

Sorry I've been offline; I think they're done for the season. Will check in with you if not, though - where in TX are you xplanted from?

Houston/Austin. Amazing chow in both places.

        3. You can also get PawPaw's in Berryville, VA - it's almost WVA.

I was just there on Tuesday 9/7 and bought 5 PawPaw's, 2 large tomatoes, 3 small peaches - the total was around $20.00-$25.00. I'd call them first just to check to see if they have some in stock. When I got there, they had one on display and I had to ask them to bring some out - they're kept in the fridge since they're so fragile.

Thank you! We're camping out there in the next couple of weeks & will check it out.

Paw Paws are all gone for the season.
