Itinerary in the making… help please!
Im coming to nola oct 8th with my fiancé. We are meeting some friends for the Tulane reunion. It will be crowded so Id like to make my reservations asap.
Friday Night we are talking about a group dinner, probably about 6 of us, uptown. One of my friends wants Jacques, but Im alittle over Jacques. I suggested either Clancys or Coquette…
Saturday Lunch: I was hoping for some verte marte po’ boys and was devastated to read that the place burned down. Id love some po boy recs. Im a fan of the verte marte classic po boys like the Jazz (something alittle funky, not your average fried shrimp plain jane po boy).
I was told that Parkway Bakery is yummy, but other recommendations would be appreciated.
I used to go to Crabby Jacques but I am not sure if we will have a car, in which case its a bit of a schlep.
Saturday Din: Again, dining with a group. We’d like to eat downtown-ish. I recommended Emeril’s, Herbsaint, Le Foret, Galatoires, a mano, or domenica. Im not so into Italian food while in nola, so the former four choices are more to my interest. Any other recs downtown or in the CBD are welcome.
Sunday Lunch: Id like to do some oysters and/or crawfish. Was thinking of casamentos, dragos, deanies cooter browns? I know some places aren’t open on Sunday though.
I was also told by a friend that green goddess was good.
Ive done jazz brunch alot, and am not running to one this time but would do commanders for that if I dont come up with something more appealing for a low key shellfish lunch.
Sunday Dinner: It will just be me and my fiancé. We are pretty much open to anywhere. Stella is a thought, or le feret if we don’t go Saturday night. Im also thinking maybe off the beat and path for something alittle low key. I used to patronize Kanno in Metairie for sushi but again, I am not sure if we will rent a car.
My friends have a revived love for sake café on magazine. Personally Id love port o call but my fiancé doesn’t eat beef so it really defeats the purpose…. however, I am open to a locals hole in the wall suggestion of the like.
Thoughts?

Where are you staying. Will you rent a car. You will need to rent a car, take cabs, ride the streetcar or walk. If you are staying close to Tulane then Clancy's and Coquette are excellent choices. You could also go to Lilette or Patois. Jacques IMO's is outstanding but it's a hit and miss with no reservations. Don't ruin a good trip waiting 2 hours at JIMO.
Go to Mahoney's for Po Boy's Saturday for lunch. Take the street car from Tulane if that's where you will be. After lunch walk down Magazine shopping or just looking.

Go to Emeril's Delmonico's with your group. It's on St. Charles. Take the streetcar. The var and piano player are both very nice. I would go to Emeril's or Delmonico's. August is another great choice. Go to Cooter Brown's on Sunday. Casamento's and Drago's are not open on Sunday. Go to August Sunday night. Your fiance will appreciate lunch at CB's watching football and then a fine meal at August.

Not sure if we will rent a car. I usually do when I visit, but I feel like we are staying downtown and can cab it when we go uptown.
Im not the hugest fan of August unfortunately. I ate there during my senior year and was underwhelmed.
Thanks for the tip on the po boy's...
Whats the deal with Stella? It used to be very good when I lived in nola... is that still the case?
Also, i am curious about le foret.
I love Delmonico's (i think i had one of the best meals of my life there, like 6 years ago) but think it may be a tad expensive and staid for this group :) Emerils is a definite possibility though.

Cafe Atchafalaya is open on Sunday in Uptown. Don't tell anyone but I'm not a big August fan either. I don't dislike August. I just like other places more. Le Foret is open on Sunday also and it's in CBD. Mila is another good choice in CBD for dinner. Emeril's is my favorite restaurant in NOLA.
A FQ tip for you. Antoine's has a 3 course lunch for $20.10 with 25 cent Martini's. That sounds pretty good for your Saturday lunch. You can get a po boy later in the day.

So Ive narrowed it down a tad with the help of my friends. The majority of my group chose jaques for friday night, and domenica for saturday. Not my faves but ill survive. I just made a res at le foret for sunday night (although im still wavering btw that and emerils... ive been to emerils a few times so le foret may be a nice change). Ive seen some mixed reviews on Le Foret so im concerned. Id really like sunday night to be a great nola meal since Jaques is well... Jaques, and domenica is italian.
We also now have monday all day to do lunch, so we can do emerils lunch monday. Or elesewhere... perhaps coquette?
I will do jonnys, mahoneys or crabby jacks for po boys one of the weekend days... still havent decided which. And cooters or casmentos one day.. Does anyone know when casamento's is open exactly?

Just a note to point out that the Parasol's website opens up as Tracey's, the place that the ex-operator of Parasol's opened up down the street. haven't been...got no idea how good it is but I cannot image a few hundred feet making a difference
