Private room for 15 for small wedding celebration in Toronto -- please help

Hello,

I need some help with ideas for restaurants with nice small private rooms. I have thus far considered George (only its 12 people, though, and their next bigger room is too big) and Origin (I love the food, but it seems more like a club than a charming wedding restaurant).

I guess we're looking at something beautiful and elegant, but not outrageously expensive. We looked at Auberge du Pommier, but their rooms are also too large (45 people sitting). If you have any ideas for a special place, please let me know.

Thank you!

  1. The Corner House has a pretty room with a fireplace that seats about 16 on the bottom floor.

Thank you! I have just asked about availability. Would you know by any chance about any of their other rooms? They seem to have others for about the same party size.
      Thanks again!

    2. Hi there, congrats on your wedding! Centro has a beautiful private front room.. no idea on price though. Also if looking for great Italian food, there is a place down on Wellington called Vagabondo it is in between Church and Yonge, amazing patio with a huge art fountain and really nice inside. I have been there and the food is amazing and the firm I was with also used them for catering...they are amazing..you could definately have a wedding there and the staff is great..I have also been there when they have had a DJ! I would check them out... also I think Oro has a small room.. also downtown.. not sure if you are looking for central locations, and also maybe think about places like George Brown House.. I attended a wedding there and it was really nice, you just need to get your own catering.. which isn't such a big deal and there is a cute small green space and it is a beautiful century home- I think it was near Beverly Sreet, parking was a bit of a freakshow but really the streetcar was just around the corner and it ran all night.. I thought about it after and I should have taken the TTC! Good luck!

Hello, and thanks for all the tips! Because this is going to be very soon (er, in about two weeks) I don't think I have time to look for caterers, etc. I will check Centro and Oro.

      2. Check out the cellar rooms at Adega and Chiado and see if they have a vibe that you like. They each seat around 20. Food and wine are excellent at both places.

Thanks, TorontoJo. I haven't been to Chiado before but this may be a good time to go, I will see what their menus look like.

        2. I'll also chime into looking at Globe or Earth. I think the private room at Globe is too big, but you could speak with them about it. They also have smaller sections of the restaurant that you could occupy, but they're not totally private. I don't know about the room at Earth or its size, but both places are nice and would suit, I think!

I had my bday brunch there in the private room and there were 12 of us and it was fine.

              At Globe
I think we had over 50 in the private room - and it's a long thin room, so not sure the layout is good.
But food is very good there.

              At Earth
We were crowded with 10 - again side-by-side. But also good food.

I thought there was a place called Globe Earth. Is these two places??

                1. re: plaerdemavida

                  Globe Bistro came first.
Then their second branch was called 'globe Earth' (presumably to leverage the `Globe`connection, but the sign just says "Earth").

                2. re: estufarian

Just to further the convo on the Globe Bistro room - the event I attended had 20-22 people or so and we were seated all on one long table.

There's a bar up there too, and we had a dedicated staff dude to take care of us. Wine list isn't atrocious from what I hear.

I was speaking of earth. We had 12 there and I thought it was ok.

Great, thanks guys, we're going to look at them.

              2. The "Floating Harvest Table" at Colborne Lane accomodates 12-16 people and the "Park Lane Room" accomodates 8-14.

It looks really good, thank you. Is it pricey? I couldn't find group menus online.

                  1. re: plaerdemavida

Their tasting menu is a little pricey but you can order a la carte at the floating harvest table. which is sort of mid range. Not sure if you can order a la carte in the park lane room. Last tasting menu I had there was their kitchen table tasting menu ($175 pp) which is a little pricier than their regular tasting menu. ($120 pp, I think...)

We finally decided to hold our small wedding party at the Park Lane private room at Colborne Lane, and we're really glad we did. The food was delicious, the service was great (attentive yet invisible), the ambiance was perfect, and everyone had a great time. They were very accommodating and very professional, and helped us have a really special day.

                      Thanks everyone for your advice!

                2. For this size I use the 'Cathedral Room' at La Maquette.
Ambiance is perfect plus they'll do a square table so that everyone can talk to anybody else.
Food is competent to good, but not ultra-exciting - but the room is perfect.

Thank you, I agree it's a lovely place and setting, I was there on a group event once. From what I remember, as you say the food was not excellent, so I am going to try and find better food. But will keep it in mind in case I can't.

                  2. A little far north, but Terra has a very nice private room I've dined in.
