early midweek dinner at Guu

Does Guu still suffer from line-ups midweek? Am I likely to encounter a line-up if I show up on a Mon, Tue or Wed, sometime between 5:30 and 6 pm?

You should be fine, helps if the weather is rainy or cold, like it is today.

You do have to wait outside if it's full, whereas in the beginning they let you wait inside. Someone ratted them out to the appropriate sources for violating capacity/fire code hence the change.

Now that Ryerson has re-opened, I'd wager it'll be busier than it has been over the summer.

Any word on the lines at Guu now that school is back in session?

Same as usual. There on Sunday at 4:45pm and I was standing in a line that stretched to Church. When I left there where about 20 people outside waiting to get in.

I don't think that location will ever change. There are too many Ryerson students who have no problem with blowing over an hour waiting in line chatting. We clearly need the Annex location, and maybe one or two more, to open. A few months ago in Vancouver on an izakaya crawl, it was like a ten-minute wait at Guu with Garlic, I couldn't believe my good fortune.

Some of the other Vancouver spots like Kingyo and Hapa should look at how well Guu is doing here and form their own Toronto expansions plans.

I'll bet that the problems with line ups will be just as bad in the Annex location-now we'll have to contend with the U of T students!

I went twice during the week in the last month. On the Monday, a few seats were still available at the bar until 5:45 pm. On the Thursday, it was full by 5:30 pm.
