Family friendly French in Toronto?

s
stonedtoronto Sep 5, 2010 09:44 PM

It initially started with me inviting my cousin from Seattle to Le Select; next thing I knew several people had invited themselves and now it's 8 of us, including a 3 month old baby...

I am thinking Le Select is out, although for some reason I seem to remember seeing a baby chair there once, but I could be mistaken. So I was hoping for recommendations for family friendly French restaurants....

My last resort is Amuse Bistro, it's not French, but it's good, and since there aren't too many patrons there usually, I would think they could accommadate us.

There are lots of families including kids at Le Paradis.

I have definitely seen kids at Le Select so I think it is quite family-friendly. You could call to be sure, but I think it's a decent pick (especially since the room is large and they may be able to give you your own space or corner.

One of the Le Papillon's might accommodate, especially since the Front Street location gets a lot of tourist traffic, which probably includes children, but I think their feed is decidedly inferior to Le Select.

I went to Le Papillon on a class trip when I was a kid.

Interessant... I went there last Saturday and it was serviceable.

I find Le Papillon on Front to be somewhat pricey by comparison for what you get.

Coquine is pretty good at lunches, but there is no separate kids menu.

We sat at the back of Le Select and there were several tables with kids around us. Didn't seem to be a problem.

Le Select is actually one of the most kid ok places in the downtown core that's not a chain. Go and enjoy! :-)

When I saw the title of your post, I was actually going to suggest Le Select. You can't get any more kid-friendly than Le Select! They have a kids menu and even provide crayons for them to colour. Great place for the kids!

We ended up going to Le Select, I knew I remember kid chairs there before! And there was in fact a kids menu.

Thanks everyone. Overall a very good meal.

If you are ever looking for another place, try Celestin. If there is 8-10 of you, you should ask for their 'private room' which makes things easier with kiddies. They don't have high chairs but you can bring in your stroller or portable chair. I bring my 15 month old there all the time.
