Neo Cantina, Asheville

Have noticed that this new taco joint is now running expensive television ads, a sign of either extreme confidence or desperation. What say you, Asheville hounds?

I had lunch there. I ordered something that is really hard to screw up: cheese enchiladas.
Neo Cantina screwed it up. Indeed, they were the worst cheese enchiladas I have ever had, and they were truly inedible.

The plate was nothing but a gelatinous mass of greasy, melted cheese. I couldn't even find a piece of tortilla.

I will never return. I am even surprised they are still open.

In my experience, it would be desperation. We ate there a few months ago and it was terrible. The waitress told us all the food was from local growers. When we questioned what growers she said well "Sam's Club". Really???? She said they hoped to be using local growers in the future...
The chips and salsa were excatly like La Paz and the menu is almost excatly the same. We each had street tacos which were blah. We got "to go" boxes and "accidently" left them. Save your self, with Papas and Beer as well as Mamacitas there is no need deal Neo.

I know a girl who works as a server there and recently asked her about it - she said it was basically La Paz just rebranded with a new name and slightly different look/menu - since LP had gotten such a bad reputation. I asked her if it was good and she shrugged her shoulders and said "not really."
