Barcelona during La Merce
First of all, I'd like to thank the main contributors here for the great suggestions. Me and my husband will be in Barcelona late September 21-27. We are more into the budget - midrange places although we do plan a dinner at Sauc and a set lunch at Alkimia (or the other way around). So, we made up a list with the board's favorites - a few menu del dia (Can Luis, Anima, Goliard, Foxos) for lunch, tapas and pintxos in the evenings (Quimt & Quimt, Sagardi, Bilbao, Taktika berri, Cervecia catalana etc) Paco Melargo for Saturday evening, El Quim for Saturday lunch and others like Cam Bertram, Cal Pep and Tomaquera. But it's time to face the truth now - La Merce is celebrated on September 23-26 while the holiday is Friday the24th.
Do any of you know how La Merce is going to affect our plans? Do many restaurants get closed on some of the days or all of them? Are there any areas to avoid due to the crowd in the city center or others to prefer? Anything special to eat during the festival?
Any info will be appreciated.
While Chowhounds may be able to shed some light on dining issues during La Merce, you will find info about other activities from Tripadvisor. The folks over there have been discussing it for months. I know they're getting together for a Wine Festival at the yacht harbour.
