Where to buy FRESH imitation crab meat ?
The type of imitation crab meat sticks they sell in Chinese supermarkets are frozen. By the time you defrost them, they just don't taste good. So I'm looking for fresh ones, like the ones in the pic. Anyone knows where you can get them?

I'm also looking for fresh sushi and sashimi ingredients at reasonable prices in the Scarborough, North York area.
Thanks!

The surimi process is cooked, not fresh. It is the polymerization of myosin protein, heated and extruded. There is non frozen surimi at Diana's or Costco, but no guarantee that it has never been frozen.
In Scarboro, Diana's would be a source for sashimi, as well as Taro.

It's stale dated and likely not been frozen as sold in supermarkets and Costco. As for taste and texture, 'tis what it is. Taro sells freshness, quality, and rarity-- you pay for that in fish as well as most everything else. Try places like PAT for more budget-friendly seafood.
