Please, does anyone know of any vegan Mexican restaurants in any of the five boroughs?

I don't know of any vegan Mexican restaurants, but you can cobble together a vegan dinner at any number of places. Itzocan, Toloache and La Palapa (three I would recommend) have a few options that are vegan already, and requesting no cheese on other dishes gives you more choices.

You're very welcome. When I last contributed to this thread, I hadn't been to Caravan of Dreams (recommended below) in years. I ate there a couple of weeks ago, and you could do worse. You could also do much better. You'd have a lot of options, but based on the three dishes I tried - which weren't Mexican, but I think they're representative - the attractively-worded menu descriptions are much more appetizing than the actual food.

L.A. Burrito (not sure if there are branches in Manhattan) can assemble vegan burritos and similar. A lot of burrito places can do this. Mi Nidito in the Theater District actually has a separate and lengthy vegetarian menu, so as long as you ask them to hold the dairy you'll find something (I am not telling you it's a great restaurant).

Blockheads can make vegan burritos with tofu, soy cheese and soy sour cream. It's not my thing, but the option is there in case you want to try it.

Not vegan Mexican restaurants but all of these places serve vegan Mexican food.
Quantum Leap: cheap burritos, but decent food.
Caravan of Dreams: I haven't been here in awhile (it's a little on the pricier side) but they do have a really decent selection of vegan Mexican food.
The Organic Grill: I usually go here for brunch here, but they have a couple of Mexican things on the menu

The OP should know that Caravan and Organic Grill are not even close to being Mexican restaurants. They both serve guacamole and nachos, that's about it. Quantum Leap does have a Mexican menu at least.

I said that in my first sentence. Caravan also serves burritos.

"Not even close" was my helpful addition.

Benny's Burritos has non dairy cheese & sour cream. This is our vegan mexican restaurant of choice!
