That's funny - I didn't see the article and I've not been yet, but I'd been thinking of going today with a friend for lunch. We wound up at the Little Red Hamburger Hut instead, and really had a great meal.

Just got back from dinner at Nicky V's. We ordered 2 pizzas - a margherita with pepperoni and the Tre [sausage, roasted red peppers ]. They were very good, nice red sauce and generous size [too much for 1; maybe not enough for 2].The crust was nice and thin with a good crisp to it. DH would have liked it a bit less crisp.
DH had a Marble IPA and thought it was very good, I quaffed Diet Coke.
Had a gelato for dessert, half hazelnut and half double chocolate. Don't bother, tasted like ice cream and not the rich silky texture of gelato.
Great views of the Sandias and then city lights as it got dark out. Nice outdoor patio area too.
Worth a trip, worth going back to try other pizzas and pasta dishes.
Side note: you can "make your own" pizza and then had some unusual topping to pick from including carmelized onions, potatoes, butternut squash and truffle. {That will be my next creation}

Deb, you hit the nail on the head with the gelato - it is made by VanRixel Bros, and uses cream, so many would say that it is technically not gelato, but rather some kind of ice cream. (Their flavor combinations are quite good, however)
Anyway, YES, Nicky V's pizzas and the crust are amazing. Oh, that crust.... my new favorite in town. Favorite specialty pizza has roasted squash and arugula on it.

Went for lunch the other day. They have lunch special $7.99 for 8" one topping pizza, small salad and soda. It's $9.99 with beer instead of soda.
We ordered our own pizza - topped it with carmelized onions, roasted red peppers and truffle oil. It was excellent!
Soda was flat, got iced tea, then soda was fixed and got a glass, when they refilled soda, it was flat again. Bummer, cause I love Diet Coke with my pizza during the daytime.
