Edmonton - German Food Shopping

I just recently moved into Edmonton from the country and am stuck in finding great places to buy German food and Imports like authentic German Chocolates and Breads. Does anyone perhaps know where these little shops are hiding?

Try K&K foodliner on Whyte Avenue (82) and around 100st.

I totally agree. I've heard about KK for a long time. Finally managed to get a parking spot a block away today. Came away with a ton of yummers: True bratwurst, pork sausage, bacon, sauerkraut, more sausage, liverwurst,.... I tried the liver: Absolutely the best I've personally had. And a very quaint little operation. The two checkouts are the same as from my youth 30 years ago.

The only other place where you might find "import" foods to your liking that I can recommend is the Italian Centre on the south side, 51st. Ave.

Empress Bakery is over there too - I haven't been in there in a long time but someone I used to know (who was German) would always pick up fresh pastries, etc. from there.

They have a great selection of several different kinds of rye bread, as well as other breads from that part of the world (e.g. zopf) and more basic white and brown breads and rolls. They also do struedels, cakes, pastries, and cookies.
