Mexicali Taco Co. ~ Real Baja Style Tacos

I want to recommend you what I think are the best Baja Style Tacos in Los Angeles.

After trying many, many recommendations, I finally found what I see as the real thing, these are not a "Los Angeles Style Baja Tacos'" ~ these are truly authentic Northern Mexico / Baja Style Tacos! That's Mexicali leaning towards Sonora.

You might want to read more about them in Yelp, also a few online local blogger reviews had come out in the last few days.

For now they are located at the corner of 1st and Beaudry in Downtown Los Angeles, but they might be moving locations soon. The best is to check their Twitter feed for actual time and location.

For now I know they are at 1st and Beaudry, Wed-Thu: 8 pm - 12 am and Fri-Sat: 8 pm - 2am.

  1. this place is blowing up FAST, akin to the RFT hype machine

    1. I don't know if they are Mexicali or Sonoran or what; here is what I do know. They are fabulous tacos. Delicious tortillas filled with freshly grilled meat and chicken. If you go, tell them Larry sent you. And you can thank me later.

Yay!! Glad you liked them! I was there again last night.

Everyone seemed very happy. What a great taco night. I am from Baja, born and raised, and the scene at Mexicali Taco last night reminded me of one of those late night taco runs there. Happy people, scattered all around the taco stand, eating by their cars, chatting. Good times and amazing food. Superb customer service! All of that with the beautiful view of the City of Angels! This is truly the real thing!

***When we were driving back home the tweeted that they had just sold out, that was around 11 pm. I guess is better to try to go early.

      2. I can't believe I waited so long to try this place. It was fantastic! I ordered a vampiro de asada and cachetada de asada (they didn't have any chorizo, which I was going to get) and a Sidral. The vampiro came first, and this was the best quesadilla I think I've ever had. The meat was grilled perfectly, with good char and juicy still. The vampiro had a sauce that put it over the top. I finished it before the cachetada was done. The cachetada was very good as well, but I loved the vampiro so much I got another. Their salsas were very good as well, and the man taking orders was very friendly.

Can't wait to go back. Do yourself a favor and go as soon as you can.
