re: basketwoman
Wolfeboro Inn is generally avoided by locals due to poor food. Much better choices in Wolfeboro would be The Restaurant 03894 on North Main St or Mise en Place on Lehner Street. Neither is located at an inn, though. I heartily second Lexpatti's picks: Corner House Inn is elegant, offers excellent food & service and is located just a short distance from Moultonboro, roughly the midpoint between Meredith & Wolfeboro. We also love O at the Opechee Inn in Lakeport, but it might be a bit out of the way for you. I'm sorry to say we were disappointed by our last 2 visits to the Woodshed. We'd love an update on Coe House, which has been a favorite spot for us in the past. However, they've been open inconsistently in recent years.

I know this area very well and I would choose The Inn at Church Landing in Meredith too or my favorite is still The Corner House Inn in Sandwich. I'm not familiar with the Wolfboro area as much but if you go into Laconia, we really enjoyed O Steak and Seafood:

The Inn at Church Landing has a nice dining room overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee: http://millfalls.com/marketplace/store.php?storeid=16

It's been a few years, but I once had a very nice upscale dinner at the Coe House in Center Harbor. Since then it has closed and reopened, not sure how it is now. I visit the area once a year but tend not to have fancy dinners.
