Norwich VT to Springfield MA - suggestions?
We're taking a day trip to Norwich on Sunday, and plan on meandering home along Route 5. Looking for suggestions for places along this route or nearby - we're willing to detour if the description sounds good enough!
Shorts and Tshirts will be the attire, so not looking for 5-star for this trip.
Thanks in advance!
In Hartford VT, I believe on rte 14, very near Norwich and rte 5, is Big Fatty's. It's a small but terrific BBQ place. You can see the smoker out on the patio. Love their slogan "Put some South in your mouth". Also, I keep forgetting to recommend a stop at King Arthur's. It's a shop associated with the baking school but they do have some ready-made sandwiches on great bread and wonderful baked sweets and really good baguettes and other breads. Picnic tables are outside if you want to eat there. It is on Rte 5 in Norwich. I just noticed that an African restaurant has opened up on the main street of Windsor, VT called Miriam's, I believe, have not yet been over there to try it. The only kicker on all these places is that I don't know if they are open on Sundays...that's chancy around here.
Sorry I didn't see this in time. There's the Miss Bellows Falls Diner on Main St./Rt. 5 in BF. Springfield VT has a decent cafe on Main St. (spacing on the name) and there's the Farmer's Diner in Quechee VT and Four Aces Diner in W. Lebanon NH, but those are getting closer to your destination. Lots of stuff in Northampton obviously. Where did you end up?
