Anniversary dinner in Key West
My wife and I are headed to Key West in October to celebrate 39 years together. I have read many of the posts of Key West and am looking forward to the local places. Where would you go for that one special anniversary dinner? We are open to all types of cuisine but want good food, good service and a romantic atmosphere.
Yes it will be after Oct 15 so stone crabs are on the agenda. It looks like Joe's will not be open for lunch on our arrival day so where would you go for stone crabs on the way down from MIA? Thanks!
We always go to La Trattoria on Duval St. on our 1st night in KW. Call them up, tell them it's your anniversary, and get one of the two small tables located in each window alcove. It’s like your own private table facing Duval St. Great food, service, and best martinis on the planet (in our humble opinion). We haven't been there in 4 years, so I hope these tables are still there. After dinner, walk over to Better Than Sex Restaurant on Petronia St. for dessert – not too far – about 3-4 blocks.

It depends on what you want to spend. Little Palm Island, several miles outside of Key West, can't be beat for romantic views, and exceptional food. You are taken by boat to the island. You can also stay on the island, at a large pricetag. Friends of ours hosted a 60th birthday party there; they stayed there one night, then the next day, a Sunday, they had about 10 people join them for brunch. The brunch is out-of-this-world, and I've only had one rival it, ever, and that was the Ritz-Carlton in Coconut Grove, Miami. For get-down places in Key West, Hurricane Hole, either upstairs, inside, or outside, downstairs, on Stock Island. Also Hogfish Bar, Stock Island. Islamorada Fish Company, on the way down the Keys would be good for lunch on the way.

Lattitudes on Sunset Key owned by the Westin. We had our 30th anniversary there last May and it could not have been better, They ferry you over to the island and you can eat out on the beach or inside, beautiful sunet then they light the torches, fine food and fine service.
Stopped at a place called Lazy Days in Islamorda very nice patio overlooking the atlantic side and it was the last day of the stone crabs they had a very nice mustard sauce
Two years ago, we spent our 25th anniversary at Blue Heaven. Drinks at the outdoor bar and chatted with folks, then dinner outside with chickens and cats roaming under foot, festive lights and canopy above. Excellent food, so much so we went back the next morning for breakfast. For us it could not have been better.
I think we had stone crabs at the Rusty Anchor on Stock Island that were quite good.
