Dominique's Gravenstein Apple Pie

Last weekend friends served the Gravenstein apple pie they'd purchased at the Healdsburg farmers market from Dominique's Sweets. It was $20, baked and sold in a glass plate. They said she makes 20 a day. Barely sweetened and with the barest whisper of cinnamon, the natural taste of the floral Gravs hit just the right note with the buttery crust. Warmed up and served with Screamin' Mimi's vanilla ice cream, we were all happy campers.

Had some of Dominique's Sweets Grav apple pie for breakfast on Saturday. I figured it was the same as getting a fruit tart, right? And WAY more fruit than a tart.

Anyway, the pie was DELICIOUS and just the way I like it. Reminded me a lot of my Grandma's Grav apple sauce in flavor, so it was a taste of home.

$3.00/slice. Plus Dominique is very sweet.

Oh, were you in Healdsburg on Saturday morning? I went to Santa Rosa for a change, sorry to miss you. I'm glad you got to try Dominique's pie.

So far all I've made with my Gravs is applesauce, just plain, not even addiing any sugar and its great.
