Any Hookah lounges/restaurants?

Does anyone know of any nice lounges or restaurants that have hookak/sheesha? I know there are many, but I wanted to go to a nice place that serves nice Arabic or Persian food instead of a regular sheesha bar.

There's a place called Parsi on the SE corner of Spadina and Richmond. I don't know anything about it, but I have walked by there many times.

I just noticed a new place on the south side of College between Bathurst and Spadina. Looks like a pretty venue. I walked by and peeked in the windows but I couldn't see too much. They do serve food but I don't think they serve alcohol (if memory serves... and it might not).

I'm going to get the name wrong, and probably embarrassingly so, but it was something-like "Awash" - except that I expect the word was of another tongue which is why I'm butchering it. The sign was difficult to read.

There are a couple of places on the Danforth between Coxwell and Greenwood. I think one is called Marrakech Cafe. They look pretty authentic. Lots of middle eastern/north africans frequent them.

            Downtown option:
Banu on Queen Street West offers hookahs.
It is a Vodka Bar with great Iranian food.

              1. Markaz is a new-ish spot in the Entertainment district. It got a very nice write-up in one of the papers earlier this year (I think the Globe and Mail). Note that they do not serve alcohol.

              2. Banu also has hookahs. www.banu.ca

                Wow thanks!

Do you think Markaz would be a good place to celebrate my 19th birthday?

Depends what you're looking for. 19 is often all about drinking (for better, or usually for worse) and they're not licensed. It is in the heart of clubland if you wanted to make a later venue switch.

The one in Mississauga near Hurontario is called Aladins. Been there a few times. Not bad. Sometimes service can be super slow.

hey I just went to that plaza today and there was a sign on the door saying it was closed due to fire/flood damage, does anyone know about that?

on another note, in the same little mall, theres this Donair place and the shawarma was delicious!

best part, the pita was made fresh as I ordered it, it was so good!
