Fun place for college student in Easton, MA (Stonehill College)?
A friend of mine is headed off to college at Stonehill in Easton, MA. I am much late in getting her a graduation gift, so thought I would get a gift certificate to some place fun and close to campus. Any suggestions? I do not know the area at all.

Mario's is easily the best authentic Italian Cuisine in the Easton area.
Richie and Mario are Sicilian transplants and their Mom is involved in the kitchen as every great Italian mother should be.
There is a beer and wine license, but the food is the star.
Go early, go often. They deliver.›1 Reply -

A few more choices: Stoneforge Grill (American), El Mariachi ( Mexician), Mario's Trattoria ( Italian) are all within walking distance of Stonehill.. A couple more in town are Maguire's Bar & Grill (Pub food - a favorite) and LOCO Tapas and Wine Bar, further away from Stonehill.

Easton is a bit of a food wasteland. That said, there's a very fun old fashioned candy shop, with GREAT ice cream, called Hilliards, that actually borders the campus. I'm confident that a gift certificate from there would be well-used.
Across the street from Hilliard's is one of the best places around there, called Fresh Catch. They own several fish markets around town, and the sushi there is the best for miles around.
Hope that helps!

I wouldn't say that Fresh Catch has "improved", and I don't think it's particularly good, but I've had better than "abysmal" meals there. The sushi is the best part of it, and, while not up to urban standards, it's the best in the Easton area that we've found. At least it's better than the chain restaurants nearby.
Stoneforge is a good suggestion for a more upscale place, don't know if it's great for a college freshman.
We'll have to check out Hayashi, which I hadn't heard of.
