Momo Milk Bar Cake Truffles

WOW. These are good. Probably the most impressed with these out of any of the desserts that Momofuku Milk serves...I had one of the birthday cake truffles for breakfast, and it was moist, sweet, and perfect. A full taste of cake and frosting in a single bite (or two).

Way better than the crack pie and candy bar pie (although that one is pretty heady as well).

Also, wouldn't it be way more attractive if they actually cut you a piece of pie and put it in a box for you rather than dishing out the mcdonalds like apple pie containers?

  1. I haven't had the birthday cake truffles yet, but really liked the chocolate malt cake truffles. They were also "moist, sweet and perfect"! I wish Ma Peche would serve them for dessert for the prix fixe lunch and dinner.

    1. Will have to try those next time. I just had their chocolate cookie... so rich and chocolatey!!! loved it.

      1. Totally agree!! The Birthday cake was my favorite as well. I've returned almost once a week since they started and I'm hooked. It's the perfect sized dessert IMO as well. Although I usually go overboard and eat two or three.

        1. Thanks to your post I made a point to stop by MMB this past weekend and get these truffles. I bought a packet of each of the three kinds on offer to take with me and have been savoring them since. "WOW" is right. These things blew me away. They really scratch an itch I have for sweets -- and I LOVED the touch of salt on the exterior -- that cupcakes don't begin to touch.
So moist, so toothsome and the perfect size. All three types were delicious, but perhaps the banana was my favorite.

I also got soft serve while I was in there (cereal milk and ants on a log). YUCK!! Both were just horrible, but the truffles... divine!

What flavor is "ants on a log"?

              Glad you liked the truffles...

Ants on a log? Celery, peanut butter and raisin?

              1. re: doubledoc

That's what it was supposed to be - I couldn't detect any hint of peanut butter at all. It was celery ice cream with some raisins sprinkled on top -- truly vile.

heh! i recently had dinner at momofuku ko. everything was exceptionally delicious, except for the onion gelato, served in a puddle of onion sorbet. i tried to eat it, and tried to have an open mind, but couldn't stop laughing. it was the only thing i left uneaten. (the portions were too big for the zillions of courses we were served. there were many bites i should've left uneaten...)
agree that the cake truffles are great. had an apple cake at noodle bar a few weeks ago, and it was intensely apple-y and delicious. and perfectly sized!
