New BBQ in Valley

reality check Aug 31, 2010 08:53 PM

A few weeks ago, there was a post about a BBQ restaurant that was going to open in the Valley. I can't find that post, which the mods closed, but I didn't think they would delete the thread.

A friend told me, Smoke City Market is now opened. Has anybody been there?

Some people are like that, they won't go to a new restaurant until that restaurant has been open for awhile. I can understand that thinking. But if I'm in the area, I don't care.

Walked into the place on Wednesday, and was told it might be 1-2 more weeks before opening. Still painting, etc.
it is at 5242 Van Nuys Blvd., just north of Magnolia, on the east side of the street, adjacent to the bar Coda. Previously was hottt house, pampas cafe, natural gourmet, etc.,
Keep in mind it is owned by a bar owner, not a restaurateur, so set sights accordingly.
